Week 3 Back on Non-Essential Sites
Last week it was reported that construction sites across Ireland were operating at between 30 percent to 50 percent capacity. As we close out Week 3 back working on non-essential sites, it is clear that contractors and site operatives are adjusting to the new safety protocols and social distancing measures on site with the rapid introduction of new technology and on-site devices for fever screening and verification of CIF Induction training.
While the re-opening has been gradual and the return to site phased for different work teams, productivity is increasing week-on-week and local supply chain issues are being resolved (overseas supplies continue to experience delays). According to weekly updates from construction consultants and industry commentators, overseas labour has yet to return to Ireland. This is being attributed, in part, to ongoing travel restrictions and the current quarantine requirements for people arriving in Ireland this month.
