The Finance Dublin 2021 Deals of the Year Awards recognise 40 winning deals across Ireland’s capital markets and Castlehaven Finance has been awarded the accolade of Loans & Financing: Development Deal of the Year in Ireland.
As published by Finance Dublin:
The world of finance is changing, and perhaps at an accelerated pace during the pandemic, as the industry met the challenge of a health and human crisis, the first global catastrophe since the great financial crisis of 2007-2008.
It’s been a time when, as these deals stories also show, the industry and the world continues to adjust to the financial crisis of 2007 and 2008 itself.
The awards reflect the changing times, such as the rise of green finance, the role of Irish companies in leading edge life sciences work, which the pandemic has reminded us of, the challenges of finance in the Irish economy, notably in housing, and the changing role of finance, as private equity and alternative finance combine in new ways to blend with traditional financing models in banking.
The deals stories reflect the rich diversity of financing in Ireland, a new industry that barely existed 35 years ago, with an international dimension that certainly could not even have been imagined 35 years ago.

In accepting the award on behalf of the Castlehaven Finance team, Partner Will Aylmer stated:
“Castlehaven greatly appreciates Finance Dublin’s recognition of this milestone deal as one of last year’s Deals of the Year. We are delighted to be supporting Cosgrave Property Group and this award recognises the significance of the transaction within the Irish funding market. The deal refinanced a portfolio of commercial real estate, sites and development assets from existing NAMA facilities and represented a unique opportunity to partner with one of Ireland’s leading and most respected property developers.
Castlehaven’s relationship with CPG has now crystallised to unlock the potential of a number of major residential sites and allowed development activity to progress across the capital. Castlehaven has always sought to be part of the solution for Ireland’s housing crisis and we are excited to work with Cosgraves to deliver much-needed quality housing in key locations around Dublin.”
Castlehaven Finance, together with Relm Finance, advanced loan facilities to the Cosgrave Property Group to fund the developer’s exit from NAMA. This landmark deal refinanced the portfolio of commercial real estate, sites and development assets from existing NAMA facilities and provided vital housing for the undersupplied Irish market.
